Middle Eastern War

Heavy Fighting pics from MEW 2008

John, need ya t'get ten score arrows for each position here!" Willem yelled up to his step-son, at the top of the battlements. Willem was now captain of the archers, and wanted to make sure everything was in readiness, at least as much as could be. Most of his archers were making arrows, and replacement strings, but he suspected that many more would be needed than were readily available.

There had been relative peace for several years, but the horde was on the march again. Scouts had spotted the invaders several weeks ago, and the word had gone out.

War!

Everyone in the region had mobilized, and the castle had been stocked and supplied with food, weapons, and every conceivable item that could be moved, leaving nothing for the invading horde. Too early for burning the crops, and most had been planted already, so if it came to a siege, they could last for some time, and the horde would find it tough going. Maybe they could chew on some tree bark. Willem smiled at the thought.

Da, ya need to go see mother. I can see her waving," yelled John, down from above. The by had sharp eyes, and could see things even Willem missed, so he was assigned lookout duty. A little young for it perhaps, but at ten, he could do it, and it was a relatively safe assignment, which pleased Kate. It was going to be a bloody business.

Again, war was rearing its head. So be it.
They would be ready...
